Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral disease caused by the monkeypox virus. It's an orthopoxvirus that can be transmitted through close contact with an infected person or animal, or with materials contaminated with the virus. Symptoms often include fever, a distinctive rash (resembling pimples or blisters), and swollen lymph nodes.
